QantasLink Baggage Allowance
(from or via Sydney)
Checked Baggage:
- 2 pieces not exceeding a total of 23kg* per person, each piece not exceeding: 1st piece up to 14kg (30lb) & 2nd piece up to 9kg (20lb).
- NOTE: Lord Howe Island flights have weight restrictions. The second piece (9kg/20lb) may need to travel on a separate flight or day, so please pack accordingly.
- Total dimensions for each piece must not exceed 140cm (55in). Dimensions for checked baggage are calculated by adding together the width (A), height (C) and depth (B) of the piece of baggage.
- Infants not occupying a seat have NIL baggage allowance, however, 1 piece of infant equipment may be taken (e.g cot, car seat or stroller) subject to aircraft weight restrictions. *
Carry-on Baggage:
- 1 piece of carry on luggage – maximum 7kg per person (maximum dimensions, 48cm L, 34cm H & 23cm D). *
- You may take food and alcohol to the island provided it is within your luggage weight limit.
- Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club member’s additional checked baggage allowances don’t apply on these flights.
Eastern Air Services Baggage Allowance
(from Port Macquarie, Newcastle & Coolangatta)
Checked Baggage:
- Your baggage allowance is 14kg per person. Excess baggage fees (currently $6.25 per kg – subject to change) will apply for all amounts over the allowance and must be paid upon check in for your flight.
- Dimensions for checked baggage are calculated by adding the width, height and depth of piece of baggage. The linear dimension must not exceed 140cm/54in.
- Carriage of baggage is subject to space availability and any applicable aircraft weight restrictions, which vary. Baggage exceeding the specific allowance may need to be accommodated on a later flight. Surfboards are included in this category, they will be subject to an extra fee and their carriage is NOT guaranteed and may NOT be accommodated on a later flight.
- Surfboards can NOT be accommodated from Newcastle or Gold Coast Airport at all.
- Comply with the baggage allowances and do not include fragile or perishable articles, precious metals, jewellery. Money, rare items, business papers or other important documents or valuables (including cameras and electronic equipment) in your checked baggage.
- Infants not occupying a seat have NIL baggage allowance.
Carry-on Baggage:
- One small personal item. This could be a handbag, laptop computer or overcoat.
- Carry-on Baggage is restricted to one item with maximum dimensions or 30cm x 30cm x 15cm and a maximum of 3kg.
- You may take food and alcohol to the island provided it is within your luggage weight limit.
NORFOLK ISLAND
Qantas Baggage Allowance
(from Sydney & Brisbane)
Note Qantas flights depart/arrive from the international terminal in both Sydney & Brisbane.
- Economy class baggage allowance: 30kg per person checked baggage & 7kg per person carry-on.
- Business class baggage allowance: 40kg per person checked baggage & 7kg per person carry-on.
- For tickets issued with an allowance in kilograms only, there is no restriction on the number of pieces within the weight allowance for international travel.
- Total dimensions for each piece must not exceed 158cm (62in). Dimensions for checked baggage are calculated by adding together the width (A), height (C) and depth (B) of the piece of baggage.
- Note: if you’ve purchased international and domestic flights and these are on the same ticket, the international checked baggage allowances apply to the domestic flights too. Where the international and domestic flights are on separate tickets, if the connection time is within the same calendar day*, the international checked baggage allowance is accepted on both flights. Be sure to present both tickets when checking your baggage in. Exceptions apply.
