After clearing customs you will be met by Pinetree Tours or your accommodation host.

Sub-tropical – summer time approximately 19-24 degrees & Winter 12-21 degrees.

Lions, Probus, Quota, Rotary, RSL & Leagues clubs welcome visitors. There are also Golf, Tennis, Bowls, Sports and Workers’ clubs that all welcome visitors.

CUSTOMS

Vegetables, fruit, flowers & seeds are prohibited imports to keep the island free of introduced disease.

DEPARTURE

Check-in t least 2 hours prior to departure at international airports. Airport taxes from Australia are pre-payable with your package.

DRESS CODE

Comfortable & casual at all times. Good walking shoes, hat & sunscreen are recommended.

DRIVING

A current driver’s licence is required. A rental car is the most practical way of getting around as there is 120km of roads to explore. The general speed limit is 50 km/hr, reduced to 40 km/hr in the town centre, 30km in the school zone and 30 km/hr in Kingston.

DUTY FREE

2.25 litres of alcohol & one unopened packet of up to 25 cigarettes or 25 grams of tobacco per person. You may purchase beer, wine and spirits from the Norfolk Island Liquor Bond Store located on Taylors Road.

ELECTRICITY

240 volts, 50 cycles, 3 pin plug. A power surge device is advisable for computers.

FISHING & BOATING

There are several licensed tour operators that can offer a large array of fantastic fishing & boating trips. “Fisherman’s Paradise”.

GOLF & BOWLS

Norfolk offers a fantastic 18-hole golf course. Several annual golf & bowls tournaments available.

HEALTH & MEDICAL

The Norfolk Island Hospital has 6 adult impatient beds, a dental clinic, pharmacy & 24 hour emergency services. TRAVEL INSURANCE is highly recommended.

The Visitor Information Centre is open 7 days a week for your convenience. Hours may vary.

ENTRY / PASSPORT

At International Airport, check-in 2 hours prior to departure. A valid passport or photo identification (eg. Drivers Licence) is required. Non Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa.

PICNIC AREAS

Several picnic & BBQ facilities available at many of the island most scenic locations.

RESTAURANTS

There are in excess of 35 restaurants & eateries.

SHOPPING

There are two supermarkets on the island open 7 days. Some grocery items are more expensive due to freight costs. Most other shops close Wednesday & Saturday afternoons. Some are open until 12 noon on Sunday.

SNORKELLING & DIVING

Norfolk offers over 30 world class dive sites or snorkel in the tranquil waters of Emily Bay.

TELEPHONE

Norfolk Island operates with a 3G/4G mobile network and has public Wi-Fi access areas available around the island.  There is currently no global roaming agreements in place with Australian providers, therefore visitors will not be able to roam using their provider. Visitors can purchase a $30 Tourist Mobile plan from Customer Care at the Council building in the Bicentennial Complex Burnt Pine or the Visitor Information Centre. The Public Library, Clubs and some eating out places provide free Wi-Fi.

 

TIME ZONE

Norfolk Island is one & a half hours ahead of Australia Eastern Standard Time, half an hour ahead during daylight saving time.
